One theory circulated by internet marketers and web developers, is that Google is more likely to rank a page higher, if they see that link on their search engine getting a lot of clicks. Naturally this seems logical, and one is inclined to believe the theory has some element of truth. So, to further add weight to the Google Images theory, if you can generate traffic by optimizing your images, then you should also see some improvement on the normal organic searches.
