Social Trending

Trends on search engines and social marketing websites can do wonders for your traffic. There are lots of ways you can find out the hot topic of the moment, or that latest breaking news which must be covered on your site to get traffic. The best way to get into ‘trending traffic’ is by using Twitter. There are a few sites that can tell you the most popular trends of that very minute, and you can immediately tweet about it – and link to an article on your site. You do not have to actually write a huge article on the trending subject either, you can just give highlights of the story, which will take you just a few minutes.

For example, you should use sites like the following:

Twitscoop (one of the best by far)

Trendistic (previously Flaptor Search)

Tweet Scan

Tweetmeme

Twitturly

GoodBadMe

Favotter

Once you find a topic that is slightly related to your site, simply write a quick 4 – 5 line article on your blog, and then write a very quick tweet.

Two things will happen. You will firstly become part of a trend on Twitter, which means all the trending tools online will pick up your tweet, and possibly be published in front of thousands of people. Another great thing that happens, is your tweet is published on Google (under Updates, in the left menu on Google results page). Ensure your blog is set to have a ping sent to all the top blogs etc. once you publish a post, because this will help Google to get your page ranked for the trending topic fast. Your website will get some traffic from the tweet, from your followers and the viral nature of Twitter – and your blog will also get organic search traffic if you rank high enough for the topic.
