Stolen Content
The internet is awash with file sharing sites and websites which will allow you to download something for free if you participate in a survey or take a quiz.
This does not appeal to many people, but if the content is really worth getting, they will take the plunge just to get to it. Unfortunately, just as with everything else, there are those that will share information on these sites that they shouldn’t. Copyright theft online is rife, and there’s no escaping it. If you are in the business of selling information, then that information will be passed on no matter what you do. Knowledge is power – but that power is lost the very second you tell anyone else about it.
There is one way to ensure you get at least some of the traffic that would otherwise have been wasted on a person who stole your content. For example, for those who are in the internet marketing business, and either sell their own ebooks or market others’ published works, you can upload a small document file such as a Word doc or a PDF in a zip file to these sites, and instead of actually giving them the information for nothing, give them a great discount. They will more often than not click through to your site and be happy with the great discount. For those who genuinely want the report for free, they will trawl the internet to find it. IF they get bored of seeing surveys for downloads – then they will usually come back to your offer.
If you are an affiliate for a business, and there are illegal copies on the internet, then you can step right into this traffic stream with the above method. Your ‘free’ report is going to be up there with the other searches for “Method X ebook torrent” etc. By playing the thieves at their own game, you are actually gaining visitors, and most probably paying customers.
