Free content for the asking…

There is always a way to get free content, as long as there are people who are willing to write on your behalf. If you want free content, then you are going to have to ask people to write on your blog. This is not as hard as it sounds, and you will be surprised how many people jump at the chance to get a free backlink on another blog.

The best way to find websites where people are regularly adding content, is to go to Google, and enter a keyword for the topic you’d like content for. For example if you have a gardening blog that you are trying to get content for, then you would search Google for “garden tips”. The next thing you need to do is narrow that search down to the sites that have got recent posts. This way, you know that the blogs are updated regularly. You can do this by checking in the left sidebar on Google and searching only content from the previous week or month. Visit the site, and check that the writer is not sporadic.

The next step, you need to contact the writer, and ask them if they would be interested in writing a guest article on your blog, because you found their writing to be very high quality. As a thank you, you will let them put one image and one backlink to their own site.

You are losing nothing, and gaining everything from this deal. The traffic that clicks away from your site can be given the new site in a new tab or new window, so they will return to your site. Also, when you are having guest authors post on your blog – it looks like your blog is very popular in the community, therefore people are more willing to trust your other outbound links. In Google’s eyes, you have contextual outbound links, which builds your Trustrank rating.

Never Write Another Article

To get Google to notice a website, it must see regular and fresh content being produced often. When search engines see this, they automatically see you as professional, and your site becomes an authority, as long as you have the right keywords and LSI. Web 2.0 is so huge, because collaborative websites get so much content delivered to them on a regular basis, by people writing on the subject matter at great length. For example, Wikipedia is so big now that it is quite often difficult to research something without getting hit by a Wiki ranked page. This is the power of Web 2.0 and it can be yours for the grand total of free.

Few people realise that they can get free content to their site, by simply encouraging conversations on their websites. By actively increasing people’s desire to share information, you are going to get them involved in your site’s growth.  People love to be a part of something, so if you can get them to interact, and not just read your site, then you are genuinely leaps ahead of the others. You can get your own small slice of the revolution that is Web 2.0.

To get your visitors to participate in your blog’s content, you can simply open up your posts to them so they can comment (with moderation), and also allow people to write articles about their own sites. You stipulations should be that the article MUST be 100% unique, and not just some marketing patter they put out. Free advertising is still free advertising, and they will jump at the chance to get 400 words about their site onto a blog for free, and also get a backlink in there too.

Start a guestbook, and even a chat window, and you will start to see the visitors interacting with their surroundings, and then the traffic will begin to get more regular, as people check back to see if anyone has replied to their comment. RSS feeds will be added, and before you know it, you will be part of the Web 2.0 plethora of sites.

Video marketing SEO

A great way to build traffic, and create viral traffic to your site, is to create a video that details what your site is about. There is no need to be alarmed, you won’t need to sit in front of a camera and feel embarrassed, not will you need to wave your arms about enthusiastically, telling people why they should visit your site. You can subtly attract visitors to your site by doing just one thing – and that is give away free information.

Everybody loves free information, and if you are reading this right now, then I have proven my point. All you need to do is think of some great information that you can pass on to an individual, that can be segmented into two parts. For example, if your site is about writing ebooks, then you should firstly make a video about how to structure an ebook, and the methods of finding resources for the content. Then, at the end of the video, you will tell the viewer that they can see the rest of the video at www.yourwebsite.com.

To create a simple video, all you really need is a freeware slideshow creator like Open Office or even the latest version of Microsoft Powerpoint. You can then convert the slideshow into a video, with tools like Magix Slideshow Creator. Tools like this also enable you to create the slideshow and then convert seamlessly.

Once your video goes online at Youtube, you need to pack as many keywords into the description etc. as possible. This will ensure that your video is picked up by the maximum number of syndication websites, each one giving you a backlink to your site, and each one delivering traffic to your site. Viral traffic can be almost instant, depending on the keywords you use, so be sure to are very thorough with your keyword list – this is key.

Marketing software you may have heard of…

Jul 28th, 2010No Comments

SEO and marketing software has become quite prolific in the last few years, as more people want to get a web presence that will actually bring visitors in, rather than being an online document thats only good for directions to a company’s offices. Amazingly, people assume that the more you spend on SEO software, the better it is. It is quite the opposite. Some high priced software actually has the same features as a couple of free tools – and that’s the truth. You will have heard these two names mentioned a lot on SEO forums, and Internet Marketing sites.

Traffic Travis and SENuke.

Let us first look at SENuke. This software bypasses SEO altogether and virtually brute forces your website on to Google’s page one by creating hundreds of links and web 2.0 content with your backlink attached. Not only will over-use of a system like this get you sandboxed by Google, but it may also happen when you least expect it (like 3 months into having a good ranking position and after you have earned Adsense money). By creating hundreds of backlinks too quickly, you are openly telling Google that you are indeed using sites to gain links – and this is against Google’s TOS. Whilst SENuke is a massively popular tool that works – you need to use it carefully. SENuke costs over $100 per month.

Another piece of software that is still doing the rounds is Traffic Travis. Whilst this tool does not optimise your site in any way, it goves you a clear cut advantage over some competitors by telling you how their site got to page one in the first place. You will find out how many backlinks the site has, and how many outbound links – along with the age & pagerank of each site in the top 10 or 20. This allows you to put together a campaign that will simply out-link and out-perform what your competitors have. Traffic Travis is available as a free tool with an upgrade being optional.
